As a popular music lead lecturer and course coordinator, I regularly speak at UK and USA institutions. I am near completion of a PhD at University of Birmingham researching the enduring format of vinyl records. I am also the host and producer of The Songs Are Spells Podcast, described as "the magickal version of Song Exploder" by Sony Music. Listen here
I have an MA Hons Psychology from University of Glasgow and a Postgraduate Diploma in Music Innovation & Entrepreneurship from University of West of Scotland.
I am about to complete my PhD at University of Birmingham exploring the enduring format of vinyl records in the digital era:
I have written for top tier academic journals Popular Music and Popular Music History which can be viewed below.
I have presented my research at numerous academic conferences including Goldsmiths, Durham University, Oxford Brookes, University of Westminster and Canterbury Christ Church University.
I have also organised my own research conference called “Identity and Vinyl Culture” at University of Birmingham, securing funding from the Royal Music Association.
In industry, I am a regular panel speaker on all things vinyl including a recent event at BIMM London with IDLES.
I also frequently speak in Nashville, USA as an expert on all things records, including the gendering of vinyl records spaces, which I discussed at Making Vinyl and Music Biz alongside music industry heavyweights.
